What Should I Do If a Ticket Transfer Fails?

There are two different situations this can mean — worth separating clearly in the article:

A) The transfer itself won't go through on the marketplace. First things to check, regardless of platform:

  • Confirm you're sending to the correct address: tickets@theticketcollective.com
  • Confirm the tickets aren't marked Non-Transferable (this will show on the ticket listing — approval is required before purchasing these in the first place)
  • Confirm you're not inside an active Delivery Delay window (see Article 2 below — this isn't a failure, it's expected)
  • Confirm you completed any required two-factor authentication step during the transfer

If you're getting an error when attempting to transfer on any site:

  • Turn off any VPN, Apple Private Relay, or other proxy service before transferring
  • Avoid transferring while signed into multiple devices, browsers, or tabs at once, or while on public wifi
  • Clear your browser history and cookies, then try again
  • If the transfer option isn't available at all, it's usually because the venue hasn't enabled transfer for that event/section yet, the event was already canceled, or the order itself was canceled — in any of these cases, it's not something that can be fixed on your end

If none of the above explains the error and the marketplace is still throwing something unresolvable, contact TTC support right away — via TTC Chat or help@theticketcollective.com — rather than waiting, since tickets must be delivered at least 48 hours before the event.

B) The transfer went through, but was rejected during TTC's review. Same statuses as elsewhere: Pending → Verified or Rejected (with reason), visible on the Ticket Transfers page.

On liability: Per Participant Responsibility Policy Part 2, failure to deliver tickets — including missed deadlines, wrong delivery info, or withheld account access — carries the full ticket cost plus a 200% penalty, and this penalty isn't subject to appeal. This does not apply when a transfer fails due to a genuine platform-side technical issue rather than participant error — report it to help@theticketcollective.com with supporting evidence (such as an error screenshot) as soon as it happens, and it will be reviewed before any penalty is applied.
