# Why did my payout go to Paypal instead of Venmo?

If your phone number is linked to **both** a PayPal account and a Venmo account, your payout will go to PayPal, even if you chose Venmo as your payout method. Your money is safe. It’s in the PayPal account connected to that number, and you can transfer it to your bank as usual.

If your phone number is linked **only** to a Venmo account, your payout will go to Venmo.
At this time, we can’t change where payouts go when a number is linked to both accounts. We're working on this and will announce it as soon as we have an update. Until then, PayPal is the only option in that case.

We should have made this clear from the start, and we’re sorry for any confusion it caused.
